Overview
Perfect Pass is one of the best youth group games or church team-building activities for large groups. It keeps everyone active, laughing, and working together toward a goal.
Ideal # of Participants: 6 or More
Where to Play: Indoor / Outdoor
Age of Participants: Elementary School / Middle School / High School
Approximate Time to Play: 10 to 30 Minutes
Materials Needed: Hula Hoops (~15), Dodgeballs (1 per team)
How to Play
Break your group into teams of about 3 to 5 people and give each team a dodgeball. Then, lay hula hoops all around the floor of a large space like a basketball court, with a line that everyone must stand behind.
On the count of 3, one player from each team runs into the play area and stands inside one of the hula hoops. Their teammate, standing behind the line, throws the dodgeball across the room, aiming for a perfect pass.
If the receiver catches the ball without stepping outside the hula hoop, their team earns a point! They bring the hula hoop back, high-five their thrower, and switch roles.
If the throw is off or the receiver steps out, no point is earned, but the game continues.
The goal is simple: collect more hula hoops (points) than any other team by the end of the round.
Next-Level Play
To make things more interesting, assign different point values to hula hoops based on how far away they are.

Or mark them with painter’s tape — one strip for 1 point, two for 2 points, etc.
This version rewards teams that take risks and go for long passes — great for groups that love a little extra challenge.
Tips
- Encourage teamwork — communication between thrower and receiver is key.
- If indoors, use foam or soft dodgeballs to prevent injuries.
- Play upbeat music to keep energy high.
- Have leaders or volunteers reset hoops between rounds to keep it flowing.
