Watch the Tutorial Video
Nausea by the Foot is a fun youth group game where players compete head to head to be the first to eat a roll of Fruit by the Foot! The twist? You’re not allowed to use your hands…
Overview
Ideal # of Participants: 4 or More
Where to Play: Indoors or Outdoors
Age of Participants: Elementary School / Middle School / High School
Approximate Time to Play: 10 to 30 Minutes
Materials Needed: Two pieces of Fruit by the Foot per person
How to Play Nausea by the Foot
-
Set Up the Bracket Using Chairs
Line up enough chairs to create a single-elimination bracket.-
If you have exactly the right number of players (8, 16, etc.), set up that many chairs.
-
If you don’t have exactly the right number (like 6 or 13), round up to the next bracket size (8 or 16 chairs). Empty chairs simply become byes, meaning those players automatically advance through the first round.
-
-
Let Players Choose Their Seat
Have everyone sit wherever they want. Their seat number determines their matchup.-
Seat 1 vs Seat 2
-
Seat 3 vs Seat 4
-
And so on
-
-
Prepare Each Matchup
Call up the two players from the next pair of chairs.
Give each player one Fruit by the Foot and have them:-
Open it
-
Remove the candy completely from the paper
-
Place one end of the candy in their mouth with the rest hanging straight down
Important: This prep is done before the race begins so that opening the package is not part of the competition.
-
-
Start the Race
On a countdown (“3, 2, 1, go!”), both players race to eat their Fruit by the Foot using only their mouth—no hands allowed. The first player to chew, swallow, and show an empty open mouth wins the round and advances. -
Continue Through the Bracket
Work your way through each pair of chairs. Winners continue advancing until only one player remains—the champion! -
Final Reward
The winner receives the extra Fruit by the Foot… although at this point they’ve probably had enough!
Tips for Running the Game Smoothly
-
Prep the next players early: Give the next matchup their Fruit by the Foot while the current match is happening so they can open and unwrap it ahead of time.
-
Speed up large groups by running two matches at once.
