How to Play The Toaster of Destiny
Before the game begins, figure out how many participants you’ll have. You’ll need one condiment per person. Create a list of condiments that includes a mix of three types:
-
Normal condiments you’d actually enjoy on toast
-
“Mid-tier” condiments that wouldn’t be great, but wouldn’t be awful
-
Truly gross condiments that players will desperately hope to avoid
Once you’ve chosen your condiments, put them into a numbered list in a random order. Keep this list hidden from the group.
Next, prepare the ping pong balls. You’ll need one ping pong ball per condiment. Write a different number on each ball so that every number corresponds to one condiment on your list. The players should not know which number matches which condiment.
Have the group sit in a circle of chairs with a toaster placed in the center. Take one ping pong ball at random and place it into play.
Put a slice of bread into the toaster. As the bread begins to toast, have the group pass the ping pong ball around the circle, similar to a game of hot potato. When the toast pops up, whoever is holding the ping pong ball is chosen by destiny.
Reveal the number on the ping pong ball, check your condiment list, and present the matching condiment to the selected player. They must eat the entire piece of toast with that condiment on it. Once they finish, they move their chair out of the circle.
Place a new slice of bread into the toaster, grab a new ping pong ball, and repeat the process. Continue playing until every participant has eaten a piece of toast! Will the Toaster of Destiny be kind to you?
Tips for Choosing Condiments

Medium Options:
Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, salsa, relish, gravy, applesauce, yogurt, cranberry sauce, olives
